Tropisethron, injection solution, 0.1%
Prevention of nausea and vomiting arising from anti-tumor chemotherapy Elimination of nausea and vomiting arising in the post-operative period Prevention of nausea and vomiting arising after gynaecological intraobrominal surgery.
Drug effects: The effect of the drug is antiemetic. Selectively blocks presynaptic 5-HT3 receptors of peripheral neurons and CNSs, thus inhibiting the gag reflex. It blocks the gag reflex caused by chemotherapeutic anti-tumor drugs that stimulate the release of serotonin (5-NTz) in the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as post-operative nausea and vomiting syndrome (PTA). The duration of the effect is 24 hours, which makes it possible to use the drug once a day. It remains effective when used during repeated chemotherapy. Unlike a number of other drugs used to prevent nausea and vomiting, trophiseton does not cause extrapyramidal side effects (muscle rigidity, hypokinesia, head and hand tremors). It has an additional direct effect on the 5-HT3 serotonin receptors in the CNS that mediate the n.vagus pulse transfer to the target cell.
